The first day of each school week (usually Monday) your child will copy the spelling list for that week. It should be among their papers on Monday. Each Thursday your child will be given another copy of that week’s spelling words. They will be tested on the words the last day of the week (usually Friday).
The spelling test is given in two parts with a separate grade recorded for each section. The first part is the words for that week in a list form. The second section is made up of dictation sentences that contain all of the current week’s words plus words from previous lessons. Words that are often missed will be constantly recycled into the sentences until the class masters those words. They will not be given the sentences in advance.
Spelling words will come home on blue paper.
